A DTH Hammer (Down-The-Hole hammer) is a pneumatic percussion drilling tool that delivers impact energy directly at the bottom of the borehole, right behind the drill bit. By placing the hammer at the cutting face, energy loss over depth is minimized, resulting in fast penetration, straight holes, and efficient rock breakage in hard and abrasive formations.
Inside the DTH hammer, compressed air drives a high-frequency reciprocating piston that strikes the drill bit, while the exhaust air simultaneously flushes rock cuttings out of the hole. This combination of percussion, rotation, and flushing makes DTH hammer drilling highly effective for demanding applications where stability, productivity, and tool life matter.
DTH hammers are widely used in mining and quarry blast hole drilling, pile foundation construction (DTH piling), and water well / borewell drilling, as well as in infrastructure and energy projects. At TANK DRILLING, we design and manufacture a full range of DTH hammers and bits, covering different pressure levels, shank systems, and working conditions—helping contractors achieve reliable drilling performance, lower downtime, and controlled cost per meter.
